The following account is one man’s experience volunteering at our church booth at the very pagan “Fiesta Hermosa,” where we handed out over 15,000 million-dollar bill Gospel tracts and experienced blessings—and persecutions…
By Jerry Shamburg
This past weekend I was able to help with the booth at the Hermosa Beach Fiesta, a fun-in-the-sun fest with tens [...]

Hope Chapel’s “Fiesta Hermosa” outreach booth here in Hermosa Beach was a huge success. Our team handed out over 15,000 Million-Dollar bill Gospel tracts over three days. In fact, it was probably closer to 17-18,000 tracts. So what’s the big deal? Why should anyone care that we handed out so many?
Because God uses them. [...]

This was submitted to me by my friend John Ratzlaff:
On the radio show, Discover the Word, they were discussing the time that Haddon Robinson was getting a shoe-shine. The shoe-shiner starts a conversation with Haddon and eventually starts talking about Jesus. Another lady then walks up and says, “You don’t believe in all that [...]

Spc. Lee Reese, 22, of Ashland, Tenn., was in the lead Humvee on a mission in Iraq, when his vehicle hit an IED (improvised explosive device), killing him instantly. Spc. Reese preferred dangerous missions to sitting bored.
In letters home, he was adamant that fighting for democracy in Iraq was the right thing to do. And [...]

We have a booth at the Hermosa Beach “Fiesta Hermosa,” and it’s wild! Our whole purpose was to create a presence for our church Hope Chapel, and hand out lots of Million-Dollar bill Gospel tracts. We did just that and have two more days to do so. We got a visit from the Director of [...]

I want to thank you for giving me about 12 million dollars today at the
Farmers Market. Driving home I thought to myself, “Isn’t it funny that I
was able to reap my fruit first and then sow seed?” Yes, I will explain.
I went to the Farmers Market to get some fruit [...]

I saw a cool television interview and history about Ray Comfort and his ministry in the latest newsletter I got from Living Waters. When my daughters and I went to hear him open-air preach in Huntington Beach with his gorilla, “Link,” there was a news crew from TV3, a New Zealand channel. Imagine my surprise [...]

Evangelism includes apologetics; we must be able to defend our faith in the public square. The big controversy these days, as I’m sure you are aware, is Evolution Vs. Intelligent Design. Watch what satirist Bill Maher had to say about Intelligent Design and our God.
Does he make your blood boil? What would you say to [...]

An excerpt from the July 14, 2004 edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer. The article: “Busy Shatner has The End on His Mind” by Gail Shister:
“There’s a sense of not being fulfilled… I don’t know what it is. It bothers me, because I’m approaching the end of my life, and I’m trying to do better [...]

This comment was submitted to me by W.C. This is a neighbor’s response to W.C.’s repeated invitations to visit his church. As you will read, people aren’t always gracious.
I find it rather insulting that for years now you have questioned and doubted my faith in God simply because of your inability to talk me into [...]

In a post below, I told about how last Thursday I was able to speak to Iran about the 10 Commandments, Judgment, Hell and Salvation through Christ, from a T.V. studio in the valley. The following night, an excited Pastor Robak called me on my cell phone to tell me that he got calls until [...]

The Da Vinci Code was sold out at all three theaters. Big crowds mean big opportunities to hand out million-dollar bill Gospel tracts after the movie. And that’s just what I did! I had just finished seeing Poseidon (save your money), and positioned myself just outside the theatre door

Anti-Christian Jeans Are a Trend in Sweden
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Cheap Monday jeans are a hot commodity among young Swedes thanks to their trendy tight fit and low price, even if a few buyers are turned off by the logo: a skull with a cross turned upside down on its forehead. Logo designer [...]

This is an email I received from Bekah Wiedenhoeft, a high school student who is taking my evangelism class:
I had an amazing evangelism day and I couldn’t wait until Tuesday to tell you!
This morning after church I bought a stack of million dollar bills, then my family and I went to the Armed Forces Day [...]

“Oh God, have pity on my soul. Oh God, have pity on my soul.”

The following story is the reason I ask the million $ question everywhere, which is: “If you were to die today, would you go to heaven or hell?”

About 2 months ago, Pastor Robak, exiled from Iran, spoke at our Sunday night service. He was placed in solitary confinement for 28 days in his country for standing up for his faith. He left the country for religious freedom, but his brother wasn’t so fortunate—he was killed. Now Pastor Robak rents a T.V. studio [...]

A friend of mine, Doug Levy, a youth pastor at Coast Christian Fellowship, reminded me of a very effective strategy to lessen the Da Vinci Code’s profits:
“There is also a great idea going around that people go to see “Over the Hedge” this weekend so as to not only “not see” Da Vinci, but to [...]

I had worked a 15 hour day on Tuesday and was not able to get out and share my faith. Fortunately, I have a back-up plan for times like these: I go down the street to the Arco station where the taxis line up for business.
There were none that night.
I had to get out of [...]

I’m the “Jesus Guy.”
That’s what the high-schooler called me when I handed out million dollar bills and Da Vinci dollars while proclaiming the Gospel to the students that congregate after school at the Starbucks across the street from Redondo High. These were her almost exact words: “You’re that Jesus guy aren’t you?”
I said “Yes.”
Then I [...]

From the online newsmag, The Onion-
The Onion: Is there a God?
Angelina Jolie: Hmm… For some people. I hope so, for them. For the people who believe in it, I hope so. There doesn’t need to be a God for me. There’s something in people that’s spiritual, that’s godlike. I don’t feel like doing things [...]

Fakers. They say they are Christians, but exhibit behavior and habits foreign to the likeness of Christ. I run into these people all the time as I share my faith daily—and I’m always taken aback. At the risk of sounding judgmental I will now introduce you to some of these poseurs. And no, that [...]

I’m going to see the Da Vinci Code and I’ve just recently bought the book. Why? Why would a Christian—a pastor even—do such a thing? Why would I support such a demonically inspired enterprise?

I was on the sidewalk doing some weeding in the dirt garden that surrounds the perimeter of our house when I saw them coming! In the distance were a large herd of, uh, something—headed my way wearing red and white. Upon closer inspection I noticed the Redondo Beach High School track team ready and willing [...]

The National Center for Health Statistics reported that 49,945 fewer Americans died in 2004 than in 2003, a dramatic 2% drop. The decline was the largest since at least World War 2 and the first since a drop of 445 in 1997. “We were surprised by the sharpness of the decrease,” Arialdi Minino said. [...]
