Class of Summer ‘07

The latest evangelism class at Hope Chapel, Hermosa Beach, graduated Wednesday night. We started out with 72 students the first week and ended up with nearly 50 finishers!
null As a rule, there is a 50% drop out rate by the end of the 6 week course. I figured out the reason why there is such a drastic drop-out rate after teaching 9 classes over the last 1 1/2 years:

If you take a doctrines class, at the end of the class you take a test and are a little smarter in your theological understanding. When you enroll in a course on prayer, at the end you are expected to pray. But when you take an evangelism class, you have to evangelize! Most people are terrified to do that, or don’t think that they can, or are convinced that they don’t have to or, or, or… so they drop out.

Our valedictorian, the top-o’-the-the-class, was Richard Hidalgo. (I spared no expense in achieving the dark, moody, sepia tone effect in these photos.)

His wife, Dora, was a previous valedictorian. With their two daughters, Makayla and Celina, (who are also evangelists), they are an awesome example of what God can do with an obedient family. Read one of their adventures here.

    Steve,
I’m going to teach the Way of the Master Basic Training at my church, but I would love to see what you teach in your course as well. Can you email me the free curriculum?!

    Steve,
Just wanted to thank you for a terrific class . It has given me a lot more confidence and skills in evangelizing. I have been recommending it to everyone. I plan to continue joining you guys on Fridays to go evangelizing. THIS IS PART OF MY LIFESTYLE. I do agree with you that people who do not share the gospel with others do not really know Him, or believe in Him. I plan to join you all at 4:30. Can you bring some flyers about your upcoming evangelism classes. I want to pass them out to other christians I meet for bible studies, and my GAP weekly bible meeting. Have you considered talking to other christian churches, to teach it at their churches also. This could be the motivating force to cause a revival. Many do not share the gospel because they do not know what to say, among other things (sins), such as pride, shame, not knowing the word, afraid they will be asked something they do not know the answer to, no time etc. I wasunable to attend the second to the last class, so did not get that week’s handout. Is it possible for you to bring me a copy of that too.
Thanks, God bless you. Think about taking the training to all the other churches, then watch God’s blessing in your life. Remember you will not only get blessed by the people, who turn out to making a big impact in the Kingdom, but also who they impact-it goes on and on. We will never know how many people will eventually get saved, and it gets traced back to us. We just have to have faith believing that many wiil be there, at heaven’s gate because of us. This is the biggest blessing!
    Amen

Wow, I just got back from vacation and was so encouraged by the photo of the large class of graduates!! It is not an easy thing to put together all the materials and hand-outs for each class. We don’t know all the work Barbara and Steve do to get it done. Many thanks to them for ever seeking ways to make the class even better. Thanks Steve and Barbara.
