Straight Outta Scotland

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

By Amy Ross
Amy is a friend of mine who encountered an interesting coincidence while on a mission trip…
Walking in front of Edinburgh castle on Wednesday after Andrej met me at the train station, I was handed a flyer by a man dressed as a monk. I didn’t pay much attention until I heard him [...]

Thank you to all the veterans and those still serving! Because of you, we are still able to preach the Gospel freely in America… at least for a few more years. God bless you for your faithfulness, courage, and commitment. Greater love has no man than this, that he lay his life down for [...]

Ready to Go to War?

Monday, November 12th, 2007

When it comes to proclaiming the truth that all have sinned by breaking God’s moral law by lying, stealing, misusing His name, looking with lust (which Jesus calls adultery), or hating (which the bible calls murder), and that the penalty is Hell, expect the firefight to begin. To mention that God is a God of [...]

“Righteous Richard” Reporting

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Howdy! Just a note to let you know how the month of October went as I preached from my new location at the Hawthorne DMV: I “open-aired” 8 times, passed out 375 tracts, and had 270 listeners. I hope to do better in November.
Steve’s note: Well done good and faithful servant!
Read other “Righteous [...]

Guerrilla Training

How many will finish? Check back in 6 weeks… and [...]

Famous Lost Words: Brian McLaren

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

The latest pox to be released on orthodox Christianity is the Emergent Church movement. This is a movement of primarily “Post-Modern” young people that hold to no absolute truth, deconstruct and reconstruct Christian beliefs at will to accomodate their culture, and prefer interfaith dialogue rather than verbal evangelism.
The Grand Poobah of the movement is Brian [...]

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

An evangelist in Illinois is suing the city of Naperville for being ticketed while street preaching last month, allegedly because a sign he carried was a violation of an ordinance regulating street sign location.
In September, Elmer Joe Christopherson of Burning Hearts Outreach Ministries says he and his colleagues had been witnessing for about three hours [...]

Preaching Hell in a Tolerant Age

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

This is an interesting article subtitled “Brimstone for the Broadminded” written by a pastor named Tim Keller on how to convince Post-moderns concerning the unpleasant doctrine of Hell.
The young man in my office was impeccably dressed and articulate. He was an Ivy League MBA, successful in the financial world, and had lived in three countries [...]

Solomon Grundy Died and Went to…?

Monday, November 5th, 2007

For homeschool, my daughters read this classic poem from an unknown author, which is actually a riddle. I asked my 8-year-old a very important question afterward. Read the poem to see if your answer is the same as her’s.
SOLOMON GRUNDY
Solomon Grundy,
Born on Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,

More Weak, Wimpy—and Wrong—Witnesses

Monday, November 5th, 2007

These items need no comment.

Okay. I’ll use the comments that Alittleleaven.com provides: “If you think that wearing this hat to a biker event will cause men with names like “Snakebite” and “Mad Dog” to fall on their knees in repentance, then you’ve got another thing coming.”

Great Quotes: R. A. Torrey (1856-1928)

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Never be ashamed of distributing tracts. Many people hand out tracts to others as if they were ashamed of what they were doing.
People are not likely to read tracts if you hand them to them as if you were ashamed to do it; but if you act as though you were conferring a favor [...]
